DEVON & CORNWALL

As our eyes turn to the south-west corner of England, we reach a peaceful peninsula of coastal cliffs, swathes of sand and local communities rooted in the traditions of farming and fishing. Today, other pursuits hold sway but these counties continue to retain their unique identity and way of life.

First we have Devon, home of fresh scones and clotted cream, ‘scrumpy’ cider, succulent seafood and numerous Michelin-starred restaurants. A less populous part of the country, with the wild expanses of Dartmoor and Exmoor and rich habitats of UNESCO North Devon Biosphere, all magical places where nature abounds.

The architectural and historical offerings are equally profuse, with the likes of Exeter Cathedral, Buckland Abbey, Agatha Christie’s Greenway house and Clovelly Village to name but a few possibilities. The natural world also offers the maze of Beer Quarry Caves and Kents Cavern to satisfy your inner explorer.

Cornwall too, brings a bounty of indoor and outdoor activity. The incredible Eden Project with its bubble-like biomes sheltering a myriad of unusual plantlife and ecosystems should not be missed. Then continue to get your horticultural fix at Tresco Abbey Garden before exploring the clifftops, beaches, castles and more while your journey towards Land’s End continues.

The Turas team will help you plan your personal journey through this special part of England, offering insider advice, making well-crafted connections and opening the doors to unique experiences and more. Just get in touch and we can take our first steps together.
