Vacations in Edinburgh
Scotland’s capital and home to the nation’s parliament is the perfect base to begin your Scotland vacation.
Vibrant, modern but still quintessentially Scottish, this historic city of hidden secrets promises visitors a diverse range of delights. Watched over by a cliff-top castle, the cobbled streets of the Old Town and Georgian elegance of the New Town, offer world-class galleries and museums, Michelin-starred restaurants, traditional pubs and, of course, fantastic shopping. Together the Old and New Towns are designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
And there’s an underground world to discover. Take a guided walking tour to explore a subterranean warren of centuries-old lanes and vaults once used as storage by merchants then later inhabited by the city’s poor.
For the whisky aficionado, The Scotch Whisky Experience is a must-see. As well as offering tours and tastings, you can view its incredible private collection of almost 4,000 bottles. While at Leith, historically Edinburgh’s port, you’ll find excellent dining options and can even take tea on the Royal Yacht Britannia, the former floating residence of the British monarchy and now a tourist attraction.
There are also plenty of green spaces to discover too and, for a bird’s eye view of Edinburgh, climb Arthur’s Seat, an ancient volcano just a stone’s throw from the city centre.
The Turas team can help you plan your personal journey through this beautiful city, offering insider advice, making well-crafted connections and opening the doors to unique experiences and more. Just get in touch and begin your journey.
